As well as Ross Fisher, Wentworth has also seen several other golfers come through the Foundation as scholars and turn professional. Simon Griffiths is another home-grown talent. Now, at 34, Simon has just enjoyed his best result in professional golf, finishing runner-up in the Volvo China Open in Beijing. In his rookie year, he also came runner-up in the Vietnam Masters at the end of a successful season in which he finished 44th in the Asian tour order of merit. The top 60 qualify automatically for this year’s tour. During 2008, Simon plans to base himself in Thailand to reduce travelling time – and increase the opportunities for practice.
