1950 - 1961

When the Ryder Cup returned in 1953, it well and truly put Wentworth on the world map. Three years later the Club hosted the Canada Cup, now golf’s World Cup. It was won by the US dream team of Ben Hogan and Sam Snead, as close to a racing dead cert as is imaginable in golf!

In 1961 the West Course hosted the first of its two Amateur Championships.
